Lessens the chance of damaging or stripping the hub. The ease of use is the biggest reason. With spacers, its really the only way to go. Crossthreading can be a biznitch.

BigD, I told them to package them tightly and they did, didn't make a difference. The threads still need alittle cleaning up.
