    Best tires for E30?

I have a 1989 325i with bilstein sports and Racing dynamic springs. Wondering what is the best tire size and brand of tire for a 16 inch wheel. Also for a 17 inch wheel if I purchase KOPI'S.

    I am considering these.

It depends on what width the rim is.

I will never buy a set of ziex again in my life. Terrible tires. They lose traction as they warm up, bad wet traction. Bad dry traction. I tore through a set in under 20k miles they're so soft.

I however, LOVe, my new BFG G-force sports. Amazing traction all around and they look sick to boot.

I got BF KDW2s right now and love them so far. I have put maybe 500 miles on them at this point, so that's not much to say, but they have done about 50 dry track miles and 50 wet track miles with very good traction. I have read a lot about them and they get really good reveiws as well.

I would be so happy to get 20K...or even 15K out of a set of the 215/40/17s on my car.

I am trying out the General UHP. So far, pretty impressive. Excellent wet, decent dry and very quiet.

Any recommendations for the basketweaves? I may need to buy two sets soon.

              205/60/14

              or

              195/65/14

The Yokohama ES100 seems to be the only choice.

Would a wider tire fit or be a better choice? Mostly for auto-x for one car and one set for daily driving.

I believe the TireRack still has the Kumho Ecsta SPT on 'closeout' for $73 (205/50/16).

I like my G-force sports (225/50/15) great grip once they get a little bit of heat in em, but not bad at all cold.

Im pretty impressed with my BF G force sports as well, they grip better in 205 width then my 225 es100's did. They have better wet and dry traction, and ride is smoother and they even have a higher treadwear...

KDW2's are also amazing especially in the rain.

I didn't know there was such a thing as best tire. What's important to you? Price? Maximum grip? Tread wear? I'm not sure how anyone answered this thread without knowing that stuff, as any tire is a compromise of these qualities.

If you want max dry grip, The Azenis RT-615's are hard to beat. You'll get about 6-8k miles out of them.

If you want good performance, fairly cheap, decent treadwear, any of the 17" $60-$90 "high performance" or better tires on tirerack.com will do the job. They all perform identical and I never felt a difference. Kumho Ecstra Supra 712's, Sumitumo HTRZ-II's, BFGoodrich G-Force sports, General Exclaim UHP, they all act the same. I got about 15k miles out of all of them (no camber correction), they do excellent in the rain, warn you at the limit, and are fairly quiet.

No matter who you talk to everyone seems to be very highly opinionated about some tire, good or bad. Not sure how, as I drive my car at the limit with every tire I try, and haven't noticed a significant difference in any of the cheaper, high performance tires (besides the Azenis, which aren't really street tires).

I can't speak about treadwear or really cheaply priced tires because I've never tried any, I'm an enthusiast not a grandma haha.

I'm running toyo proxes T1-R's on 16X7's and am very happy with them 205/45/16. Sticky, in the dry, very well behaved in the wet. Need a little heat in them to do their thing, but not too bad.

KUMHO Tires introduces tires with scents in the United States.

The first Aroma tires will have a lavender scent. Later the company introduces orange and jasmine scents. Why would somebody want a scented car tire? Maybe after you have everything else pimped on your car, why not throw on some lavender tires?
I'm going to hold out for the Jasmine ones...
