Do all spacers vibrate at higher speeds? 15mm H&R hub centric...

Ok so I was happy I put iX weaves on my car until I drove on the highway and they seriously vibrate above 40 mph... I'm using H&R 15mm hub centric spacers on all 4 with longer lug bolts. The wheels are straight. I haven't hit 60 miles on them yet which is when your suppose to re-tighten them? Will that take care of it? I guess I'll just have to take them off the ground, loosen them and try to re-tighten them uniformly...

I have 20mm FK hubcentric spacers (IMO just as good as, but certainly no better than, h&r) with studs on my bottlecaps and I have zero vibration problems whatsoever.

Are you sure they pressed on/in to the hub or wheel properly? If there was some scaling or excess dirt in the wheel bore or on the hub extension, the spacers or wheels may not be seated completely and your torque may be inaccurate. I'd pull them off, make sure they fit cleanly (but snugly) onto the hub center and into the wheels, and maybe clean the hub and bore with a wire brush just to make sure.

Good quality spacers like H&R's or the FK's should have absolutely zero vibration due to the spacer .

My first guess would be its a wheel vibration , second would be a tire vibration .
Could also be your longer bolts are bottoming out , what lenght are your extended lugbolts ?

Can you tell if its coming from the rear or from the front ?
If from the fron you'll get a vibration in the steering wheel , if in the rear you'll notice it more in the seat as opposed to the steering wheel .

Hmm, I wiped the bore/hubs off good but I guess I'll try a wire brush. Also, I only got 3 new tires because a used one I picked up looked good enough (maybe its no good? you'd think the tire place would have noticed that when they balanced it. I'll try putting it on the rear and see if there's a difference). The vibration seems like its coming more from the front then cause I can really feel it in the steering wheel. The bolts are about 15mm longer than stock bolts.

I ran 20mm H&R spacers for a while and got no shake all the way up to 100+. Are you sure your wheels aren't bent? They can balance a bent wheel but it still won't roll true. If you're sure, I'm going to bet one of the tires is the culprit, and not necessarily the older one.

If the spacer is related to the vibration in any way it's due to improper installation. Spacers will not cause vibration that wasn't already there due to something else otherwise. Well, I suppose if someone chisled a set out of rock or something maybe but any decent spacer, even not so decent spacers, will not cause a vibration. For a spacer to be causing a vibration there would have to be a significant amount of imbalance present, the diameter of a spacer is very small relative to a tire/wheel. MassXdistance....you see my point. I'd guess tire/wheel out of balance.

I once bought a set of tires from Tire Rack and had them installed at a local chain shop. Naturally this is not appealing to them but whatever. As I drove away for the test drive I noticed that there was horrible vibration so I turned around and went back. They tried to tell me that all 4 tires were bad and that I should send them back. I took the car to a different local chain and had them checked. They rebalanced all 4 of them and all was fine for ~40k miles and a couple years. Needless to say I never went back to that other shop for anything. Oh, and I did speak with their manager and got my money back. F0cking shiitebags.

Well I moved the wheel with the older tire to the rear and re-installed the 4 spacers. I just took it for a test drive and its a lot better. I had it up to 80 and I didn't feel any heavy vibration in the front like before. Could be that tire just isn't good or one of my wheels isn't perfectly straight. Or maybe the guy at les schwab didn't balance them right, though I haven't had a bad experience there (except once they overcharged me). Two of the wheels were bent which I had straightened at factory wheel outlet in clackamas. A third one they said they couldn't fix so I don't know why they would lie about the other two.

most of the goons at tireshops are idiots - I bet they didn't put them in right.

they won't even touch my car because of the wheel studs (liability), but that's fine with me - things like my friend having 4 of 6 lugnuts come loose and the tire almost falling off keep me away. they also wanted to know if I wanted chrome valve stem caps to go with my hoosiers :p

yeah who knows. I'll just have to take them in there again so they can check them out on the machine.
