    Tire Size Help :: Stuffing 225's on a 1991 325ix

My Vehicle: 1991 BMW 325ix (stock suspension)
OEM Setup: 15x7 Basketweaves w/ET41 offset
    OEM Tire Size: 205/55-15

Summer Wheels: Brock B2 Alloy Wheels
Wheel Size: 16x7,5 with ET35 offset
    Tire Rack Suggests: 205/50-16
What I Want to Run: 225/45-16

    Reference Links:
    Tire Size Calc - http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
    Wheel Offset Calc - http://marksink.com/tire_wheel_offset/offset.html

I'm not n00b to the wheel/tire fitment on vehicles. Having had more than my share of aftermarket wheels/tires on cars before, I understand how it all works. For reference, Tire Rack shows plenty of 7,5" wide wheels with ET35-38 on an E30 325ix and they are usually pretty accurate with what should or should not fit.

Ultimately, my question is simply this:
Has anyone fit a 225mm wide tire on a 325ix with success?
(If yes, what size wheel, what width wheel, what offset, etc)

From the numbers I've crunched, the issues that could come up seem to be on the outside of the wheel/tire only, rubbing perhaps on the fender. Is this the case, or will I be okay? Please advise -- I want to hear back before I go spend $300 on tires only to find they may not work. TIA!!

225/45/16 Hankook rs2's On 16x7's et35 wheels. my rears are hammerd and rolled. I also have H&r sports. They're kinda soft. I only rub up front on the inner fender shrouding. I also have m3 cabs.

I was up above it, Now I'm down in it ~ Entropy - A Build thread.

Problem is, offsets and clearance differs from the ix to non-ix cars, based on the fact that we have a front drivetrain that doesnt exist on the RWD cars. Furthermore, your car is lowered which alters it from mine.

I have no intention or desire to hammer/roll my rear fenders. My goal is to run the widest possible tire w/o any other alterations. If that means 205 or 215 is the widest I can go, so be it. TIA for any further replies that may appear.

I have an ix. I rolled the finders before i put them shoes on there. I had a set of wheels that was et23 with 225 on them...

EDIT.et23 didnt work well. Had stock suspension also i think..

Thanks for the clarification, that you do indeed have an ix. That is helpful to know that you fit 225s on there -- however, I do not want to roll the fenders. Your reply is greatly appreciated. Hopefully someone else may reply who has run 225s w/o rolling fenders, since that is my goal. Thx again!

very much doubt your going to get 225s under there without fender rolling. what's the big deal with rolling anyways?
