    16x8 tire fitment

i have 225/50 in the rear and they rub under cornering/acceleration. the lips of the fenders have been pounded in

well that'd be because 225/50 is the wrong size.

you want a 225/45/16. these may still rub depending on your offset.

FWIW i have 225/45/16s on a 16x17 et35 with 8mm spacers for total offset of et27 and no rubbing with unmodified late model arches and bilstein sport springs.

Now that's what I call stretch! jk

Yea, 225/45 or 215/45 are both ideal for an e30

You guys do know there is an entire thread for these questions right?

        I run 215/45s on my 16x8 RSs, at et11.

I run 225/45s on my 16x8 style 5's et23 (usually throw an 8mm behind them)

I put 205/50's on my et20 16x8's for track use (yeah, not something to brag about, but the tires were 1/3 price on clearance). I was concerned about safety, but after 1 track day they are still fine. The stretch isn't THAT bad. Then again, r-comps generally run wider...

I run 205/45/16 on my 16x8s. With my springs and no pads they rubbed but I rolled on the fenders heavily all around so that problem has been solved. I believe my next size will be 225/45/16 because I need a little more meat on the rear. With you running 50 profile tires you're going to rub for sure. I would definitely go with what the other guys are saying.

              What springs do you have?

                Thanks

I don't really like the looks, I'm not much of a stretch person. Function > Form.

Yea, I figured that much with the track car and all. But I have to say, it does not look bad.

This thread is useless without offset.

He asked for offset and almost everybody mentioned their offset...

You're right, but he still didn't mention his. We can talk all day about what works, or we can know what he has and tell him what he can get away with.

I am running Racing Dynamics 16X7.5 ET25, no spacers, rolled, fairly low...no rubbing at all.

                              you can't be that general-

205/50 will should work fine for most setups, its 225/50 that will probably rub
