Definately getting a set so I can cover them with Hawk brake dust and save the Alpinas next season. Plus the ligher would be nice. I wouldnt mind the FWD offset because that would make certain theyd fit whatever brakes I put under the Alpinas.

Hell, I could tell driving around on the bottlecaps how heavy my Alpinas were.
how heavy are the real alpinas

in the grand scheme of wheels, SSR's arent that expensive. *Most* people owning e30's are on strict budgets, so the cars are often seen with "budget" wheels.

Borbets/ASA/Kopi's/etc are all cast wheels that weigh a ton and are fairly cheap.

SSR's are worth every reasonable penny, and it doesnt take a nuclear scientist to notice the difference in unsprung weight.

The only reason I dont have SSR's is that I cant justify spending 2x what the original purchase price of my car was on wheels for it. E30's are cheap, if I had an e46 or similarly $$ car, I'd look at HRE's SSR etc.

      My $.02

i completely (100%) agree with what you just said :)

hahah. I think they look sexy on Calypso's car, but are kinda bling-bling because they are unruly expensive. sure they are good looking and very cool in person, but $$$$.l

I mean, sure they are fucking light, but is anyone short of say, Ted, Charlie, Mario (just to name 3) experienced enough on the track to make a difference? Probably not, so they are likely bling. (and do some of us really need 225s, likely not)

I'd just opt for some Kosei's......because 15's are cheaper. (Or 16in ones like Team Solo Alex, with spacers)

It doesn't take somebody with experience on a track to notice the difference in 5-10lbs of weight from a heavier set of rims.

thats very true. Ive only been driving for 2 years and i noticed a huge diff when i took of my borbet Cs and put my bottles back on. i think the Cs are like 23ish and the bottles are 16(correct me if im wrong)
it's true. You can notice a significant difference. I used to own an integra GSR (rip), that was slightly modded. One of the mods i did was change my calipers from stock to Spoon ones.

and damn, what a big significance when turning the wheel. You can feel the extra 10 lbs. shaved off each caliper

            16lbs.

The bottlecaps are lighter by two and the tires are also lighter so I can tell. Arent these wheels like 12lbs?

              Tirerack.com says the 16x7 SSR's for E30s are 11.0lbs each.
That's friggin light, especially for a 16" wheel, that I personally think looks awesome on just about any color non-M E30.

Definately going to run them next year. I thought they were supposed to be super expensive but shit. Worth it so I can switch to Hawk Blues and not have to worry about washing them.

Well, I mean, how much were the genuine Alpinas? Not exactly 15" weaves or cheap rims. ;) All about perspective.

Use anti-seize (as you should do when mounting wheels anyway) you ass

I prefer blue loctite on my wheel bolts, and red loctite on my hub surface actually...

I put anti-sieze on every hub I have a wheel off of at work.
