    anyone running 225/45/15s?

Pics? I know they are undersized but I think that may be the only size left in ST class autox tires in 15" and 225 width soon.

My main problem is that I hate fender gap, and 225/45s would lower the car and then I'd have to take the coilovers farther down to close up the gap.

There are 2 to 4 new AutoX tires coming out this Spring/Summer in 225-45-15 that are expected to outperform the current crop of Bridgestone R01's and Dunlop StarSpecs. As far as I can find, none will be available in 225-50-15. I found a bunch of threads at https://www.sccaforums.com searching on 225-45-15 in the street tire forum.

BTW the last year or two, most of the ST cars with 15" wheels were running on 195 or 205 tires because the best tires weren't available in a 225 at all. So don't dis the 225-45's - it's a big improvement from the pizza cutters.

    Good luck!

Not dissing them, but they are 1" undersized compared to stock E30 OD.

They will really look goofy I'm afraid and drop the car another .5" which my car doesn't really need.

are these going to be your only tires?

you'll probably find that most competition tires are going to be smaller.. but it's not a big deal, as it gives you a pretty good gearing advantage over the stock OD, and they will be a little lighter too.

Yeah they will be. I'm hoping the SCCA rumors are true, but I wonder when those tires will be out! I don't want to buy RS2s then have R1Rs or something come out in that size later!

I'm going to put whatever tire I get on the TRM 15 x 8, since it's really only direct fit 15 x 8 and will clear Lee's Street kit.

Too bad Rota isn't still making that size/offset combo. It looks good.

Now Jesse just needs to buy my wheels so I can order my next setup!

I know, but when? At some point in the not too distant future, once my Works are sold, I'll need something else to put on the car.

choose between the re-11 and the khumo XS in 205/50/15. rs2 even in 225 is said to be slower than the 205. i wouldnt wait for the rs3, havent heard anything in quite a while about it, i doubt it will make it time for this season's homologation. and of course, it may or may not be available in 225, and it may or may not be competitive.

the manufacturers dont seam to believe that there is much of a market for 15"/16" street tires. all the sizes are available in 17+. however, the second you take the jump to r-compounds, all of a sudden 15" makes alot of sense.

sucks but thats the reality of the market.

^Gruppe-S racing is claiming the RS3 to be made in 225/45/15 and that it should be available soon (waiting for an email back with availability date).

Toyo shows a R1R in 225/45/15 on their web site, but I can't find anywhere that is actually selling it.

Realize I'm an Auto-X noob, so the .2-.3 tenths that a pro could pull out of one tire over another isn't as big a deal as just getting a quality sticky tire on the car.

R1R's in 225/45/15 do exist, some guy with connection got to test em out. however, you will pay dearly for the toyos, they seam way more expensive than the other choices out there.

hankook usually have good sizing, so i wouldnt be suprised if they have the 225 size. however, i have no idea if it will be a good tire.

why not stick with the re-11?

                            A 205/50 on an 8" wide wheel?

Do you know who is selling the Toyos in that size?

im gonna run the re-11 on the 8" wide wheel. it's not a problem, auto-x targetted tires always run slightly wider and 205 is recommended on 6-7.5". so an extra 1/2" is very acceptable. in the TRM wheel thread, someone posted pics of 205 rt615's mounted on the 8" wheel and they didnt look stretched at all.

i have no idea who is selling the toyos in that size, i actually searched for them this morning, with very poor results. the only places i found didnt carry that size. and the price was 50% more than the RE-11. that's a hard sale to justify, especially with bridgestones 100$ mail in rebate.
