Now the screenname makes sense. A new to me e28 and 3500 miles. (pic heavy)

Preface: I am an idiot. I decided it would be a great idea to buy a car I've never seen on the opposite side of the country and drive it 3500 miles home. What kind of insane person would do this? Me. And my Dad.

Day 1: Up at 2am to drive to Newark Airport. Getting in the F30.

Flight is delayed from Newark (go figure) and we BARELY make our connecting flight to in Texas. The word sprint is applicable here. Once we got on the plane there were some great sights as we passed over the Country.

We landed in San Jose and rented a car to pick up the e28. First picture of her.

After that picked up a few odds and ends like tape, hoses, hose clamps, oil, etc and called it a night.

Day 2: Up at 6am because Jet Lag. Hit the road early so we could spend some time in Yosemite. Great plan. I'll let the pictures do the talking. For those who have never gone to Yosemite, do it. Place is amazing and I think I saw less than 1% of it.

Annnnd then problems. Valves started getting loud. On a hunch, opened up the valve cover and lo and behold the oil spay bar bolt towards the front of the motor is loose. Tightened it to 14nm with my patented hand torque-o-meter.

Nothing like working on your car in Yosemite

And were on our way. No more problems after that. Smooth sailing and working cruise control.

Shirley (her new name...surely this car will make it home! You get the idea.) is doing good. Day three and we're on our way through the desert. Herbie decided to send the night next to us in Bakersfield.

    Sunrise.

    Wind turbines.

    California Desert.

    Grand Canyon

More Arizona Desert and the Petrified Tree National Forest.

    Into beautiful New Mexico.

After the desert there really wasnt much to take pictures of. Here's more of the same but shot with film on my Mamiya/Sekor 500tl.

    Heading to Yosemite

    In Yosemite

    Grand Canyon

Few cool shots on RT 66 in Arizona

And probably my fav part of the trip, the Petrified Tree National Forest

And thats all folks! Happy to be back in the vintage BMW community. Hope you enjoyed the pics!
