so...you use microsoft products...but insist bill gates is the devil and his products aren't worth the money they cost? i'm not following here. anyone remember os/2 warp? it sucked. there's a reason why microsoft stays around, and it's not because of the premiums people pay for their software. it is because it is good software. the newest service pack for windows xp dethrones what in my opinion was the best operating system i've ever used, windows 98se. some iterations of linux are free. use those. see how much you like them.
I retired my E30 for now...

Exactly. I don't like Linux, and I don't like Mac OS. I've been using windows since the day I clicked a mouse, and I've become quite proficient at them. That doesn't mean I have to like them. I will agree, that XP SP2 is one of the best operating systems ever. But just because I like the OS doesn't mean I agree with Microsoft's business practices. If Bill Gates can steal Windows from Apple, I can steal if from him. Fair's fair. Bill Gates and Paul Allen deliberately decieved the original programmer of DOS into selling to them for next to nothing, and then turned around and did the exact same thing to Steve Jobs when they told him that they wanted to help Apple co-develop the graphical user interface, which later became Windows after they tweaked it just enough to play it off as their own creation. Yes, it can be argued that Steve Jobs never should have allowed Bill Gates and Microsoft to get in on the development in the first place, but how was he to know what was going to happen? I could go on about this for days and days, and sound like a bigger paranoid geek with every word, but I won't. I've expressed my reasons for not liking Microsoft, and I'm going to leave it at that. Let's get this thread back on track.

...which is pretty much the same thing Jobs did when he snaked the Mac GUI from Xerox PARC.

Correct, but the version of the GUI that Apple got from Xerox was VERY different from what Apple ended up with. Xerox had the right idea, but NO idea how to make it work.
