i heard you cant get pulled over for it if you are driving, only when you're parked.

I got one while parked at school even though I have my plate clearly placed on my dash I moved it back to the front for a day and now it's back on the dash.

None! I have a German plate, had it there for about 9 months and I've never been pulled over for anything!

I've been caught twice, but got only one ticket.
One was when my car was parked, and i walked out to find that the cops had walked around the parking lot looking for no front plates as 4 other cars around me also had tickets.
I was driving when another cop pulled me over for it, but I just got a warning.

Having your plate on the dash is illegal. Its supposed to be on the front of your car.

I used to not have my front plate mounted, but i was getting pulled over all the time. I think things like this makes you stand out in a group of cars and screams 'pick me' in a situation where the officer has a choice of pulling over a pack thats all speeding on the freeway.

In the end, its just not worth the hassle. Cops around here are pretty aggressive about it, and until recently ive had minimal contact with the law.
