door trim clips question

For the door window and its wiper seals and the seal moulding (crome or shadow line ):

I have two set of clips just like realOEM shows. One on the right (two bends) is for the outer window wiper seal and the molding..any idea about the one on the left? Where does it go?
It’s listed as for that door molding but I don’t see why it’s needed if the double one does the same thing plus the window seal.. the right one is 51211876087.

I just dealt with these, replacing my chrome trim. But I didn’t remove/ replace the clips.

I can say that there are 8 clips total along the outside trim (at least on my 88/ 89 coupe E30). My gut says that the larger clips hold the chrome/black piece. I don’t recognize the smaller ones, but I didn’t remove my clips at all.

Maybe the smaller clips hold the weather seal only? That’s a guess.

Can you replace /match as you take them out? I’d say just match what comes off the car.
