GTFO if you're going to be this absolutely stupid. Blunt is simply quoting you verbatim, and he has your ass. You say you're not going to steal yet you've already stolen the manual and who knows what else. In one breath you say the car is basically free, then the truth comes out and you admit you do not have ANY rights to this car. And you can be damn sure that whomever put that car there has more rights than you or your friend, even if it is on his property.

This is a great forum if you can sift through the bullshit, however in this case it is us who has to sift through all of yours.

didnt steal the manual, i took it out of the car and put it right back. and ya i said basically free cause i didnt want to explain the whole situation, i just ended up explaining it anyways. cause not only did i want to see if the motor would fit, but i figured ide get a better idea of what to do about the car if i started this thread anyways.

well first things first. You have the VIN, do as many searches as you can, including Lien searches, CarFax report, police report etc etc. You honestly have nothing to loose.

Then do a search on M5 forums and things like the ///M registry, sometimes you can see owner's and their VIN's this way. I don't have my VIN visible, but many do.

Next look into your local jurisdictional laws regarding the fact that a car has potentially been abandoned on your friends property.

Also consider the fact that repairing the M5 may be more cost effective than transplanting its heart into your E30 - just a thought.

You need a game plan, take things step by step. This may not play out the way you wanted but at least you can say you did everything you could if you do your due diligence.

never thought about searching for an m5 forum. I did think about repairing the m5. Ill take better pictures soon and show you guys the back of the car. In my opinion its not worth it to fix the car. You gys may think different concidering you know more about m5s and these kind of cars then i do.

I'm finishing my masters in structural engineering right now and all i can say is that the math is the easy part. Has anybody ever taken thermo? How about structural analysis?

                      joehasane30,
This post is pretty amusing to read and before you start saying I am stupid etc I actually graduated a long time ago with an Architecture degree.
Since the car is on your friends property you should have just pulled the engine then came on here and said hey guys I have a nice euro M5 engine and I want to install it in my E30, has anyone actually done a swap like this? Or any tips?
                      TIA,

you seem to be really tied up in the legality of all this, and i am totally surprised that no one has brought up the fact that you mentioned nothing about your friend not taking any interest in finding out where this mysterious car on his property came from...

so this car just showed up by his ware house 3 months ago and he went "hey will you look at that" and walked away???

also you attitude and responses were completely un-warranted in a lot of cases in this thread and you over reacted several times.

Remember you are on a public forum asking for public opinions and advice, when you get them you have to understand they might not be what you want to hear and you should handle them in an adult manner if you expect to continue to receive adult responses...

also this swap has been complete many times and what the others have told you about the difficulty all holds true, the s38 is high maintenance motor, esp if it has lived a hard life.

get off your high horse and try to consider what is being said here, there is alot to be learned if you are willing to listen to opinions that are different then yours.

if you come out the box bat shit insane fast... and have nothing to back it up... well we are all gonna call bullshit

so consider what is being said and good luck

Do you by chance know the definition of the word "arrogant"? In a nutshell, it means "Conceited, but unable to back it up".

You, young fuckstick, need to spend some time in the real world.

i think you should remove the motor, steal the shell, and then put the motor back where it was parked and leave it there. that way you have a wrecked m5 body, and when the owner comes back to tow it away he will think "WTF", buy an e30, and swap the motor into it.
