wow I had to stop after like page 4,

assuming you have the budget (not trying to put you down but we are talking about a s38 here) and the s38 is my dream swap

also make sure the diff wasn't jammed foreward in the wreck (damaging the most important tranny), I was hit by a yukon in the rear and the motor/tranny went up into and almost through the radiator....

you will need the motor and tranny of course,
just take the entire ecu, engine wiring harness out of the M5,
put the M5 on a lift and look for any wires from anything going from and to anything on the drive train, because unlike our lovely simple e30's the newer cars and higher priced cars (i.e 5 series and up) have loads and loads of wires and computers and they all have a purpose, and one cut or anything missing could set everything off

custom driveshaft is needed,

you will need to fit a much larger radiator in the e30, the m20's will not cut it
remember the s38 is a special motor, just expect to have to tend to her like a needy girlfriend, a really awsome sexy good sexin girlfriend
this would be the first s38 swap in the states that I have hear of,

this guy did it with a turbo, over in europe somewhere


I'm sorry but I have to call you out on the your smarter than everyone bit, please go through the BMW STEP program or the CPCC BMW program and then talk to me, (again I'm sorry I just had to through that out there)

and these guys are dicks some times you just got to be humble and all that, see what I did was I asked a simple m20 into a 318is thread and let everyone assume that I was a novice that way you get alot of answers and they feel smart for answering

The simple thing to do would get the motor running on a stand and do the checks there, if all is well go from there

you seem to be really tied up in the legality of all this, and i am totally surprised that no one has brought up the fact that you mentioned nothing about your friend not taking any interest in finding out where this mysterious car on his property came from...

I contacted a few different bmw shops around where i live. Not one of them said they have put that motor in a e30... Im much smarter and younger then most of you on here, do not think low of me. Ive learned more in the years i have lived then most of you have.

as i was typing this, at work about 5 mintes ago, i realized your stupid and not worth my time... alright fine, your not stupid.

i probably took more english then you ever have throught highschool and my 4 years in college. I dont care whatsoever how i type on the internet.

I work four 9 hr days a week, and have over 25hrs of class and lab time a week. and do a lot of other shit.

Changed my major to art/photo. sister is a photographer. it seemed like a good idea.
