      The 2 times I've shattered mine, the upper has gotten at least a small crack in it. Definately make sure to inspect it before bolting everything back together.

            I suggest changing both upper and lower pans for safety of mind. Pretty sure you can find them for $100 a set. Also, clean up the crank before installing the new pans. Spray a lot of carb cleaner...

              I can imagine that getting all sorts of scrapage on my car! as it is my sump is lower than my iS lip. I've just learnt to be extremely carefull hahah.

                        Hahah, i know what you mean. First i crash mine into the back of a Rav4, Then you crash yours and write it off. Then i get mine back after a month and adam smashes his sump the next day!

                        My only worry about getting one of those bash plates is the fact they sit probly 10-20mm lower than the sump and it would probly hit on my driveway every time i drive in so it wouldnt work.

                          my lil bro did something similar... shut it off immediately, replaced the pan and all is good in the hood.

                          best of luck! drive the car as if it had an oil pan made of glass. or just cop a skid plate and go balls to the walls.
