i was actually thinking the same thing. however instead of filling up the tank. ill wait for the car to reach the red marker then ill put up about a gallon.from that i can calculate how many miles would the car can go.

btw, the leak that i found wasn't a gas leak. it turns out to be the transmission fluid.
like what i said at the start of thread, the car was converted from 2.5 to a 2.7 stroker, it has a dinan 900-2532 chip and a K&E Intake and the camshaft is on a 288. whenever im on 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears i noticed awhile ago that the MPG lever on the speedometer points at 10-13MPG (1.5K-2.5K RPM). however when i go to 4th and 5th gear it would actually points at 23-25MPG (2.0K-3.0K RPM).with all the modifications done in the car, how would i tune the car so that even in lower gears it would not consume much fuel. is the chip installed in the car isn't really compatible with the 2.7stroker?
i really don't know much about cars and i'm so sorry if i ask so many questions....
thanks for reading and leaving advices.:D

no , you are right , but changing from a 2.5 bottom end to a 2.7 bottom end dose , then putting the less fuel efficient mangement on the larger bottom end dose as well.sigpic

Miles per gallon is a calculated value involving the variables of speed and engine load. You are going to get worse mileage at lower speeds. You can't "tune" your car to get the same MPG in the lower gears.btw, the leak that i found wasn't a gas leak. it turns out to be the transmission fluid.

Since this had to be explained to you, I think you need to take your car to the mechanic, as you could have a very dangerous fuel leak. On second thought, is there any other kind? Take it to the fixer, I think this is over your head.
TS87325IS: You didn't mention the bottom end swap in that sentence though, did you? It's a pointless argument anyhow and I shouldn't have made that post; I only made it because I wanted to point out your error to the OP, who seems to know not as much as I/we/us other people do.Originally posted by george gravesIf people keep quoting me in their sig, I'm going to burn this motherfucker down.Comment

no it won't, not unless you never go below 1/4 tank and you have crud built up in there. done it many times.. ;)
it really sounds like a fuel leak. even when my engine was tuned pig rich (11-12:1 on the whole map) I still got 12mpg. 44 miles on a tank means something else is going on.Comment
