When you spend enough time working on something you develop a certain attachment to it. I'm sure a lot of members here feel that about their cars, from the newcomers who only wax and change oil to those of us who think nothing of swapping a motor over the weekend. We're here because we love cars, and E30s in particular and I happen to have loved my car. How the hell is it incriminating to feel emotional about the destruction of something you love?

Just admit you should have been driving slower and should have properly fixed your car's ABS and I won't say another word about it. You are worked up because people know you made errors in judgment in vehicle upkeep and speed and you don't want to take responsibility for those items.

If I were you, I'd be man enough (I know, hard for you) to admit my mistake and be mad at myself, not solely blaming an animal which was known to be an environmental factor in your driving situation or blowing up at people who correctly assess your fault in the circumstances.

Both my BMWs are shown love and properly maintained, and I like them so much I drive appriopriately to the conditions and situation even as both are fun to drive.

Yes, my car was fast. 13 second quarter mile and probably could have been quicker then an E46 M3 around NHMS if I'd had more confidence/tires. I kept passing them going up the hill in turn three but I'd chicken out in turn six and get passed again.

No ABS was a conscious choice that I made and would happily make again. My only mistake was spending my money on my good E30 rather then throw a bone or two to my IX so it would have been slightly more rewarding to drive. I'd feel like crap wrecking the IX but at least I don't have the staggering number of hours invested in it that I did in my swap car. The swap car was better in all aspects, power, handling, braking, headlights. It felt safer and more confidence-inspiring in all but winter conditions. The IX has ABS and a much higher stance but the braking is far less impressive then what Lee's brilliance brought to my swap car so had I chose to drive the slower, more mundane choice in my stable I'd probably be in the hospital right now.

In the grand scheme of things, losing a car and being alive is a pretty good trade...
