    IX skid plate Test fit.

I made a few of these. Two are installed. Let me know what you think. I have two or three left. This plate runs about 14lb It much larger that the other plates I have made. It covers a lot more of the sub frame.
Not sure if I will run more.

Pictures don't work for me at work, but I'll check after.
Is this a for sale ad?

I can email them to you. They are in testing so its not a sale ad. I can sell the ones I have made but they are not a final product. I may still change it later or a might not put these in to production. It depends on the IX owners out there. Do you like it? would you buy it? what would you change if anything?

they looked great in person, nice and sturdy, but I don't see the need for one on my car since it doesn't go off road. the ix doesn't have the stupid oil pan design of the other E30s that seems to catch every bit of debris on the road.

although hitting something with the subframe would suck.. I'm kicking my self for getting rid of my spare. :(

How does it connect under the car? I never totally understood how skid plates work. What exactly are they trying to protect?

It's to keep the oil pan and anything else you wouldn't want crushed safe.

                  it bolts to the subframe

on regular E30s it protects the oil pan which hangs dangerously low and in front of everything else

on the ix it protects the oilpan somewhat but moreso it protects the steering rack and subframe.

Overall it looks good, very simple design and looks to be sturdy from I can see. Sounds like a good product.

I like, I don't know how much I would really need it, but it's something I'd be interested in.

So is the oilpan on an ix better for a slammed e30 ground clearance wise? Do explain.

no, not unless you want to swap the entire front suspension, oil pump, pickup, dipstick tube, level sensor, subframe & steering rack. ;)
