has anyone tried to do their own carbon fiber work before. I'm thinking about starting with the rear section of my console that has the e brake on it? How hard do you think that will be. And finally if im successful does anyone want to buy them?Comment

You are going to make a mess of the weave and ruin alot of material.

I tried to make some stuff a while back, but it was so messy and time consuming, it wasn't worth it.
Here's a brief how-to:

my one and only experience with CF left me permanently immune from ever wanting to try that again.
You lay it in a puddle of goo, ultra carefully roll it in, making sure the weave is laying perfectly, then don't even look at it until dry.
Suffice to say, I will never do that again.
I have done dozens of diffucult fiberglass projects...lots and lots.
As far as you and a first attempt, I recommend you practice by tying your shoes with chopsticks. Get that down, then go buy your materials.
Personally, I have better things to do with my hard earned moolah that make a CF cover for my center console!
Good luck,

But it still won't be the same as "production" CF because it won't be gelcoated.

That's a hell of a job. Let's say it take you ten hours. Go sell rocks for ten hours, then buy 20 of them.- 2000 Audi S4 Stg 2 (sold)
