That could be an extreme front wheel drive burnout hah. Those are sweet pics. Sorry for the loss - thats why I carry a fire extinguisher on the off chance that something like that happens.
are you going to part it? I need new front seats.
(I feel like a vulture)
Yeah I will be parting it out anything that is salvagable, stripped the interior this afternoon. It would rock if you wanted the front seats which are in great condition cause I would hate having to ship seats again. I live in Falls Church but go to school at George Mason Univ. Let me know.

Oh man, I was up at MIR this past weekend for there last drag races of the season and a Pontiac during the burnout contest caught on fire just like my car did. But it took them (MIR) like 30 min to put out the fire.
THAT ALMOST HAPPEND TO MY M3 THE SECOND TIME I TOOK IT OUT.
I DROVE TO THE CITY, NOT JERSEY CITY BUT MANHATTAN AND WENT OVER A LARGE PLATE ON THE FLOOR DIDNT THINK NOTHING OF IT LEFT THE CAR RUNNING WITH A FRIEND IN IT AND WENT TO THE BANK, WHEN I COME OUT I SMELL GAS AND SOMEONE POINTED OUT FROM ACROSS THE STREET THAT I WAS LEAKING FUEL!
turns out it was the line wich goes into the fuel filter near the rear drivers side wheel got cut when i went over the plate which was sticking out. i pushed the car half a block down becasue every fucker walking by with a smoke gave me a heartattack! two hours later a flat bed showed up and took us home.
sorry for your loss man.
The thing is I didnt smell any fuel, it was really windy but when I got inside I didnt smell anything at all. Had some trouble starting, figured it was because it was so cold (was really nice the day before) but started up and idled find, let it warm up, pulled out and it stalled. Tried starting again and then all of a sudden flames out of the passenger side engine. Luckily I pulled out, otherwise the nice Estoril Blue E36 M3 next to me would have caught on fire too.
Well, that's one way to get the lenses off the ellipsoids. :D Have fun w/the M3.
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."
Wow, a few weeks ago the main fuel line was half way off the fual rail and I started the car, smelled gas, opened the hood and a foot tall spray of gas went every were. Thank goodness I got that fixed.

i'm almost positive you can throw a lit cigarette into a pan filled with gasoline and it will do nothing but extinguish the cherry, just like water. at least that was the story i heard at my old job when i was 17.
I retired my E30 for now...

I'm pretty sure that won't happen... there's vapors coming off of any exposed gasoline at room temperature or more, so chances are that you'd probably blow something up.
Now I know that on certain types of JP (jet fuel) you can put a match out in a bucket of it and it won't do anything, because the flashpoint is so high.

no big loss, at least it was just an ETA. but this is one very good reason to carry a fire extinguisher with you!
