I don't care what's under the hood. It's still boring looking. It just looks cheap. XLR bumper + Viper hood + Ferrari headlights. That color seems like the last that Chevy would want to advertise their new high performance car in.
It's seems like all the automotive journalists creamed themselves the day the new C6 was released. Now they're going back and saying how it is still a great car, but not the amazing revolutionary 'vette they originally thought it was. The only good thing I see about this new 'vette is that it'll drive down the prices on used C5 Z06's. That'll make it easier for more enthusiasts to buy them and ring 'em out on a track where they belong.
Still, props to Chevy for making a $45-50K car that's capable of performance one would expect from a supercar/exotic only 15 years ago.

twin turbo an e46 m3 is a COMPLETE waste of money. Let alone, turboing an e46 m3.

3150 fucking pounds is a lot of pounds if you're talking about humping six 500+lbs chicks at once. Talking about cars, 3150 lbs isn't that bad--it isn't a downright pig, and it isn't a lightweight. The following car weights are provided for comparison's sake:

        E46 M3 = 3415 lbs.
        M3 CSL = 3050 lbs.
Porsche Carrera GT = 3040 lbs.
        Porsche 997 = 3076 lbs.

Modern cars have luxury requirements, like power seats, climate control, and sound dampening, that add a lot of weight. We can't all drive in Lotus 7s, after all, safety is a big concern.

As far as the looks go, I like it. It will rape around a track with a few mods. It will likely have decent-to-good reliability. At least the engine and tranny, anyway. :)

          3150 is a fair weight.

My 1998 Z3 M Coupe weighed 3100 lbs and with the s52 it was fast. 3150 lbs with a 500hp powerplant is a monster.

The C5 Z06s go like a bat out of hell on the track. Power and handling. Amazing cars.

Uh, this is the performance you would expect from a "supercar/exotic" 5 years ago, screw 15.

You guys are kidding yourselves if you say you wouldn't take one of these. This thing is a race car right out of the box. You stick a set of R compounds on it, and there's almost nothing that is going to beat out it out there today, regardless of what price point we're talking about.

Charlie is totally right. Z06's have been tested hitting over 1 G on the skidpad on STREET tires. With a set of R compounds nothing short of a pure race car can touch that. Anyone who doesn't respect the Z06 needs to be smacked in the head.

Well put Charlie. Everyone will knock this car because it's American and cheap, but very few cars under $100k will be able to touch this car, and not many over that mark either.

I commend Chevy for pushing the envelope even more. Don't forget guys it's cars like the original Z06 that push the other manufacturers, including BMW, to build faster and better cars also. So even if you have some hypocrytical hate for American cars this thing is good for everyone!

Nope compared price tags, during the Day E30's due to bad dollar value just like now where in the mid 30's a decked Cabbie could hit high 30's and to say that 3150 is a lot of weight is ludicrous.

Just tell GM to delete all the creature features and it will be below 3000 lbs. I sure little E will want one for that matter I would too.

                            Z06=best performance bargain in years.

You can get an '01 or '02 for under $25k now, name another car with that kind of performance for only that much.

Listen to yourself  Is this the Johnny Tran stage IV kit I've heard so much about?

At least the Chevy doesn't weigh 3400lbs and has the proper torque figures to propel it. Nothing quite like BMW putting in a high revving, performance I-6 into a fat overweight pig. Talk about a cock tease!

BMW M cars have always been compromises. They have been cars that are equally as comfortable to drive on the street as they are on a twisty road. This feature alone has made them desirable. The corvette, on the other hand, is now a car with less fluff, and one I'd take over a new M3 anyday (even with the crappy interior).
