    Exactly one month left...

I get my license back in 31 days! I'm so stoked, I can't believe it's been 11 months already. It's gone by so fast!
I've definitely learned a lot in the last 11 months, and one of the first things I plan to do when available is attend
perfromance driving school. I wrecked my last E30 because I wasn't used to the jump in horsepower, and because
I wasn't the driver I thought I was. I wasn't trying to do anything stupid, but I was pushing it harder than I should have been.

What I plan to do is just rough a bit more for the winter, and just keep saving money over the winter until
the spring, and then go searching for a new E30. I don't have much saved right now, but I'm going to get a small part-time
job for the mornings (since I have a full time job already, but it goes mostly to bills and shit), and just save all the money
from that toward the car, plus my wife is going to give me a large chunk of her winter term financial aid check (she's so sweet).

With some luck and a lot of long days working, you NW guys will see me at the picnic next year in my own E30 again.

You have every reason to be stoked....I know I would be. I just can't believe that because of what happend, you lost your license for an entire year. Seems a bit harsh if you ask me, but I guess that's Oregon state law for ya. Which reminds me, I found this news article while browsing around during lunch. What this guy has to face makes your 'penalty' pale in comparison Josh....

Well Jon, the reason I lost it was because my insurance at the time had expired. I was under the impression, as was with my last insurance company,
that my policy had a 7 day grace period after expiration, and I was going to a new company the following Monday to start a new policy, as I wasn't happy
with my current carrier anymore. Well, I was wrong. The policy had completely expired, and I was uninsured. Hence, I was convicted of an at-fault accident
with no insurance. Automatic 1 year suspension in the state of Oregon.

BTW, I know of that above article. You can rest assured that I would NEVER get into a vehicle while intoxicated, no matter how small the amount.
I lost 2 friends within one year to drunk drivers in high school, and it wasn't an easy thing to deal with. Anyone who is stupid enough to drive a car
while intoxicated is one of the lowest known forms of human waste.

I suppose pushing the car too hard without proper driver skill would be stupid. At any rate, I'm man enough to admit that it was my fault, and accept the consequences.

NO insurance people shoud be flogged. Makes my rates go up and everyone else too. Josh you accepted your punish with a stone sorry but at least your state does something about it.

It sucks to get hit by someone with no insurance and you end up paying for it in the long run and you had no fault in the accident. My Corrado went that way, I was T-boned by a pick up by a drunk driver.

My insurance company paid off my car but I had to start from scratch again. No car no nothing just book value. Lost 3.5k off the lot and the car was 9 months old. Thats why I try to do cash sales now.

I told you it would go by faster than you were expecting. I bet you can look back and realize how much $$$ you saved not having to drive for an entire year, especially now that gas is the most expensive it's been in over 20 years.

And try to get an E30 right before or in the beginning of winter. I dont' know about your area, but older BMWs are getting sold more often and cheaper around here right now. Especially cabrios. Don't wait til spring when the weather clears up and more people are willing to go with rwd.

Hopefully you learned that the first e30 you find isnt the best e30.

Good luck on your search for a clean e30.

Yeah - if you wreck, you can just pay for the property damage and medical bills out of your own pocket. It works MUCH better that way!

I'm sure this guy would agree!

Thanks for the kind words, you guys and this place have been part of the reason it hasn't been so bad. I think I've been living vicariously through all of your cars.

So what will you be driving when you get your license back Josh?

And I can't quite understand using school tuition money towards car, whether its mods or not...

You should never borrow money to buy a car - much less use student loan money. Cash is the only way to go.
