    $12kish car thread

So my buddys accord took another dump, and after 230k and one totaling accident we decided its time for a new car.

The budget is around 12k for a "new" car. Something a year or three old with under 20k on the clock. Is there anything you guys can recommend? Probably going to be an auto tragic, and mpg is a huge factor along with a warranty of some sort.

Right now he is leaning towards a nice 08 honda fit we found for $12.5k with 10k on the odometer and a power train warranty to 90k.

Other cars we have been looking at include:

    Hyundai Elantra
    Nissan Versa
    Kia Rio
    Honda civic
    A few Nissan SER's

Is there anything else I'm missing?

Honda Fit is good...good gas mileage, reliable, easy to drive, albeit a little gay, but nothing a beard or some chesthair couldn't solve.

mazda 3's aren't so great on gas.

                i vote honda fit.

and buddy, you are kidding yourself if you think e36 m3's are good on gas, lol. the best mileage i've gotten with my motor is 25mpg and that was 100% highway miles in kansas, not speeding. and he also mentioned wanting a warranty so the m3 is out.

                      The Fit is go IMO.

If not that, then a MkV Rabbit (TDI or 2.5 5-cyl.) would be a pretty nice run-around.
