yar, he does but we are still waiting on getting back. Decent enough motor and we did beat the piss out of it (w/ 2 track days), but it shouldn't have blown the profile gasket within 9K Miles. There were a few other issues that are being resolved as well.

I think you're confusing metric mechanic with motormeister. Motormeister is the company that has generated so many horror stories on Pelican.

My father is looking to have them do up his M10 in his 2002 project. Don't know anything further than that though.

MM 1.9 Forced Induction Motor (Basically a slightly overbored M42 that uses Forged 8.5:1 Compression Pistons and a combination of their other parts). Also has an MM Intake Cam, beehive valve springs and a few other little tidbits.

It is boosted and runs a GT2871 Turbo w/ a bunch of 666fab pieces. Put down 347whp @ 18psi w/ meth injection, but it would normally be run at 12-15psi.

I think if he were to do it again, we would go with a 2.1 N/A M42 motor. The turbo makes great power and is a blast to drive, but is difficult to control around a track like Lime Rock Park. I have an M50 swapped E30 I just finished too, which is a great street car (haven't tracked it yet).

I would look at Korman or Paul Burke to build a motor over MM...
I have personally seen 4 different MM Motors at Korman for rebuild and all had less than 20K on them...
Jim will sell you hype, Korman and/or Burke will sell you facts...
Korman has been building 4.0L M30's since the early 90's....
Of course a 4.0L M30 would be considered Race Only, hardly streetable...
Prices are all within the same range...

Well I am not looking for a boosted motor although your setup seems like it would be a blast! I am looking at the 2.1 setup they have. No need for rediculous power as this is not a track car. Just thinking that this setup could be an alternative to the s50 swap.

I am curious as to why the engines needed a rebuild and what they were. Also confused as to why they didn't take it back to MM. They would have fixed whatever was wrong with the engine if it was due to a bad build on their part. And MM has been around since the late 70's, so Jim knows his stuff.

I have an MM M20 and I think it is a great engine. I haven't had any problems with it. It's been in the car for 3 years and has about 30k on it.

I've put about 36k trouble free miles on my "MM" engine as well

track, autox, daily driver, never skipped a beat. If you've seen any of my videos you'd know I don't take it easy either (hmm, lift off the rev limiter, or keep the throttle buried until I have to slow down?). No oil consumption/burning, no broken rockers, , no piston slap on cold starts. gets 19-20mpg mixed and about 25-26 on the freeway.

as far as hype, 203 hp at the crank on a "stock" M20 sounds an awful lot like hype to me...

Holy crap those are spendy. I was looking at the "engine kit" page by accident and I was surprised how cheap they were, then I realized my error.

I don't know if I would have the balls to drop $7-8k on a m20 lol. Easily could just rebuild it yourself for half that.

You can rebuild it, but you are just replacing parts. They have custom made pistons, cams, you name it. All made to work together to improve longevity and performance. In no way am I saying it's not pricey, but the quality provided is unmatched.
