I don't know what I MAKE an hour. I charge $195/hour, but have to pay rent, secretary, etc. out of that. never figured it by the hour.

Somebody said something about that stay in school thread. Ringing true here.

Josh, great that you got a better job. More importantly, try to get some insurance and other benefits as you move up. 9.50 seems kind of low for what you are doing, but you gotta start somewhere!

Yeah, that'd be me. I was shocked Josh was trying to be grown up on the wages a part timer High School student would be working for. Real "adults", i.e. not just over 18, but rather out of school......can't try to make it on what companies can pay poor unskilled teenagers, IMO.

Knowledge, Skill, Experience......Connections. Somehow make sure you can survive.

Josh will be a lot better off IMO when he has the unique skill set as well as the placement he's working on, and more experience in a trade, not just labor. Even if its not steady neccessarily and might not be for everyone, the tatoo artist career isn't just a job.

Im struggling to make it through school minimizing bils making $18/hr. I couldnt imagine doing anything on $7, 9 is tolerable for part time.

How much is rent on a 800sqft apt there?
My wife and I rent a 1500 square foot 3 bedroom house for $750.00 per month. My wife works 30 hous a week as a preschool teacher, and I usually work a hair over 40. Money is tight, but we do alright. We don't have a ton of expenses, and we aren't eyeball deep in debt. I mean I have student loans, but only around $8k, and I only pay $50 per month and have an AWESOME interest rate.

Thanks for all the kind words, fellas. It will be good money until I get my tattoo license. I really don't have that many bills and expenses, so it should be fine.

I have to have logged 750 theory hours in all aspects of the tattooing industry. Such as pigmentation, properties of pigments, tattoo machine mechanics and service, sterilization techniques, line and shading theory, color theory, design sizing and placement, and several other aspects, as well as having performed 50 separate procedures.

No. I'm a three-time college drop out, but I'm going back in spring '05, maybe summer. Depends on where I can go.

I plan to get fired soon (my employer does not give negative references.. and i don't plan on coming back), do my M50 swap and paint my car, then go back to school full time.

Being a 21 y/o Freshman kinda blows lol

Try being a 30 year old Junior!!! Maybe 31 by the time I actually get back to school. I should have stayed in when my parents were paying for everything.

Not really, legal drinking age here is 18.. and everyone drinks from 15.
