I worked construction last summer for Rodgers Builders and I was 18 and started off at $13.00/hour. For the work that I was doing, it seriously felt like I was underpayed. Working overtime in construction is where the money is at but it will beat you to shit. $9.50 just seems a little low. Congrats, none the less.
Yeah, $9.50 does seem a bit low for construction, but we're only doing construction in the loosest sense of the word. Pretty much everything is already precut and prefabricated, we pretty much just slap it all together. And like I said, it's almost $3 more an hour than I'm making now. That's quite a difference in paychecks
Yeah..."real" construction brings in a bit more in CA. I remeber my sisters old boy friend was making around $17-20 per hr.
Jesus i gotta move to the states.... :(
Not really Panama....how much is your rent, milk, gallon of gas?
Compare that to what you pay and then devide it by what you made.....you will see that its the same shit (I think not too up on your economy out there)

Truth. Sister made $150k of equity in 3 years off of a 1200sq ft. zero lot line house. That is all gravy but now she has to buy a new house in the same area. Those prices have increased at the same rate.

I don't pay rent (thank god for parents), but if I did (as I've already investigated) i'd be paying around $500 a month for a decent one bedroom with garage space for one. Basic food expenditures are minimum wage daily, so, that's about $1.80 (i think) * 40 * 4 = $288.. And that's the national baseline. That's like milk, bread and meat once in a while. A gallon of gas (95 octane [which is really like 93]) is going for $2.32 at the moment. So, considering i spend about $2.50 in daily commutes (just back and forth from work) that's $2.50 * 30 = $75.
So, $500 + $288 + $75 = $863 a month. My base salary is $755 a month.. and that's before taxes. So, not even factoring in my loan (which was to buy my E30 in the first place) and taxes I'm already down $108.
Believe me, I wanna get the fuck outta here.
May be going stateside for college though.. but even then, I can't work on a student visa :(
Congrates, shows the differance in cost of living in areas. I couldn't afford to support my self for that amount never mind two.
NO KIDDING GREG! Holy cow. I make 15 an hour for 25 hours a week, then 13 an hour for another 25 hours a week...(i work for three different families, I am a nanny)
It is enough to live comfortably, but ONLY because I split all my living expenses with my best friend. (roommate) We pay 975 in rent a month. For a TINY two bedroom in a killer area of town. The rent is steadily going up to 1200 a month, all apts will be raised to this next summer.
