    1. are the bumpstops
    2. are the spacers that go under the strut inserts
    3. are the collar nuts that hold the strut inserts into the housing
i was gonna say the same thing

mine looks like this when i got it, everything was bolt on no assembly required for the most part.

and in this shot you can see them in the background

damn jonny i looked at the thread to late i already have the whole front dissembled. I would have passed by for sure. Im still confused as the where the spacers go. And where i cut the strut housing. I weld the metal "ring" GC send on the bottom of the perch? The one they tape on there right?

Teaching yourself is a good thing.

But if you don't know what a bumpstop is, get someone who does to help.
You only have one pair of housings, it would suck to screw 'em up.

You need to gut your housings, normally you will section 1 inch from the housings, and re-weld.

You should have gotten instructions for this...

                The OP is already confused...

The bumpstops are under the dust shields on the rear on most Konis.

You can see them in the above pics.

Id be awsome if someone can get me a pic and an arrow of where to weld. Im getting there guys! Just a bit more to go! All the help is great!

make sure you weld AND cut on empty strut housings (remove the strut from the housings).

cutting them with the inserts.....well you could cut the insert too

welding them with the insert in there will possably cook the seals in the strut insert.

                      this should be obvious, but............

IIRC you remove 1" from the housings then reweld.
make sure everything is clean before you weld (no paint, rust, oil etc) this will give you a better weld.

if you are unsure about the order of assembly get a picture of the strut assembly from the bentley to glance at when you are putting it together.

for longer strut life, fill the strut housing with ATF after you put the insert in. that helps disapate heat from the insert during use.

wow great link man, this made it 100 times easier. Now i dont have to be guessing trough the steps, one question. Would it be fine to remove 2 inches instead of 1? How about 3? What would happen in each scenario?
