anyone catch the august roundel cover story?

was called 'E30 Madness'. they showed off e30s at the picnic and talked about how the e30 scene is really a bunch of kids.

both high school or college its now officially a cult car among us. like the 2002's among our parents, or maybe the lesser popular e21. i feel both of those belifes are pretty accurate

mentioned was also how the e36 might be the next cult car, this i dont believe.

anyone else catch it? thought it was pretty accurate

ps i will get the award for longest trip there one year...

Hm. I got my first e30 when I was a junior. I got my second e30 at the end of junior year, then all the way through senior year. Now I'll be in college, and still have that same e30. Seems pretty accurate. And I too, am very fond of e36s.

I think the Roundel was pretty accurate although I'm a little older than the crowd portrayed. I had a 2002 in the nineties and wanted another hobby car a couple of years ago, so the E30 was it. I had no idea that there was such a ground swell of PNW people that shared my interest until after my purchase. The Picnic is a great event with a spirited edge that was absent from 2 of the 3 other bmw events I attended this year. This may be due to the event being labeled a picnic as apposed to a Show & Shine or a Concourse. The crowd seems to be pretty varied yet inclusive and welcoming to all and it's organized well enough to give it a casual feeling and still get the job done. Whether you race, show, drive it to the dirt, modify or strive for stock original there is a stall at the picnic for your E30. Works for me.

I have a question, my parents don't think an E30 is affordable whilst im in high school working part time, this is BS, right? What do you do for a job ?

really? because I've been to all the picnics except the first one and there's a lot of 30-40-50+ year olds there.

I don't think the E36 will ever be a cult car. They're as common as the honda civic and ford taurus.

As long as all the major components aretaken care of..as in, water pump, timing belt, clutch, ect..it's an affordable car. I work at Dominos (3 fing years so far) but it helped pay for car stuff, gas, insurance, phone bill, ect. Basically, just make sure your e30 has everything taken care of. If you take care of your car, your car will take care of you.
