    ae86 vs. e30

has anyone ever driven both of these and would like to give me a comparison on how they each perform? i was looking for an ae86 but havent been able to afford one but came across a $2k 1985 e30 325e. i am now contemplating getting the e30 becauseit has racing bucket seats, short ram intake, remus exhaust, kyb struts front/back, sway bars, dynamics rear spoiler, 2002 325i rims/wheels. are they a hassle or problematic at all? oh and its has 114k

87e30 got beat by my friends stock ae86 when it was stock although it was sort of an unfair race.

The hachi is slow, if you can find a GTS they are waaaayyyy overpriced and still only have 115hp or something retarded, plus they have a solid axle. SR5s have something like 70hp IIRC (don't quote me on that). At least the eta has torque.

I would ignore the eta and find a 325i or is in decent condition. Hachis are fun and all but they're retarded slow until you do a swap. And white etas are still great cars, they're slow too. They're just not so annoying about it.

both are scary cars. both are super fun. so the question is, do you want expensive mods for a euro car, or expensive mods for a jdm car...

when i say expensive, i mean its expensive to do it right.

                  definitely not a good buy

and go with an at least an i, you'll be happy with the performance for awhile.

i just want a head to head comparison on which performs better as a balanced car: handling/acceleration

                      Not quite that easy

Since it's an 85, if you want any reasonable compression you'll either need different pistons or a pretty rare "731" head off a 323i, otherwise you're stuck with an atrocious CR

I think you should wait around for the right car

And I'm not sure how he put E46 wheels on it unless he did a 5 lug conversion, in which case you might want to get it after all

an ae86 needs a ton of work to look decent

at least with an i you could do some basic mods and have it look halfway decent!

in no particular order drop, lip, wheels = badass e30

edit: i should say with the CORRECT drop, lip, wheels = badass e30

well then give some more information..

                            ae86 gts? sr5?

                            325e/s?,325i/s?,318i(84-85),318is(1991)

they're handle differently, brake differently and accelerate differently.

It's not that simple, but the basic idea is

                              Hachi generally handles better
325i is faster in a straight line hands down
E30 has more sophisticated suspension design (although they're both very old designs at this point, independent rear will be more compliant than a live axle)
If you ask me, the bimmer is the more balanced car, a hachi is sort of like a miata coupe (no power but fun anyway), except less gay which is clearly why they cost more.
