Look at it like this: the E30 was an entry level luxury sport coupe/sedan.
The AE86 was Toyotas attempt of a sport hatch.
You want quiet/refined/smooth/quality? BMW
You want to rip around corners/scare little kids? Toyota
the E30 was $22,000+
The AE86 was WAY less money, like $15,000 ish back in the day.
An ETA with a 3.73 and a chip is way fun and will roll right with a stock "i".
Here is the tough part of life: decide what you want and go get it.
GL!

The way I see it AE86s are awesome cars, but only with a lot of money put into them.
I mean you need suspension and wheels, but not only that you know you want the JDM bumpers etc.
Then you're slow as hell... and you know you want a 20v or some other swap. And then... you're still pretty slow unless you chose boost.
A 325i is pretty quick stock, with some suspension you're looking at a fun car. I'd say spend a little extra and get a nice/clean 325i car and you'll be happy.
Or if you want to throw thousands around right away and make a quick project I'd get an ae86.
But honestly, if you have the modding mindset. Any car you get will require a lot of money to make exactly the way you want. So choose which car makes you smile more, go drive both.Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.
No need for discretion.

having driven both for an extended periods of time, there's misinformation in this thread.
AE86 is as pure as car gets, none of that extra bullshit "posh". It's all about the person in the driver's seat. If you mess up, it messes up, if you got the skill, it will show. AE86 is amazing, and it's as close as you can get to pure driving. AE86 does not handle better, it simply showcases your abilities. It's very underpowered, even compared to 325e, but you cannot substitute anything for high rev shifts and the feeling you get. AE86 is a DD nightmare and depending where you live, sourcing parts will suck too. I would own one in a heartbeat along side my e30.
