So you HAVE to have the DEI mini remote for the board to match up to the buttons?

no, the DEI mini remote won't even match up with the buttons (mini remote buttons go left to right where these are top to bottom. I don't have it installed to take pics but the basic install of the mini remote is you can get one button to line up fine by rotating the board slightly.. the other button you'll need to be creative with super glue and small pieces of plastic to extend the 2nd button (the 3 rd button on the remote isn't used)
