It would probably be cheaper to just finish out the FI. You can get a Megasquirt setup for around $400 or so and yes you can run it off of a crank sensor. Check out a lot of the turbo builds on bmw2002faq.com, they are using MS setups and will give you a good idea of what you need.

This is a great thread and is very detailed on the MS portion, I'd suggest checking it out. I have probably read through it a dozen times entirely deciding on what to do on my 02.

Perfect if you want to spend three times as much as MS would cost you for it to run EXACTLY the same. The M10 doesn't need much in the way of a hight end stand alone to run properly.

                sucks about your wreck =/

                a 2002 on MS? SICK !

I love how MS completely transformed my car, it almost feels like Ive got an extra cylinder and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to go stand-alone with a budget. Does nearly the same sh*t as motec does but for thousands less.

Thanks I'll have to read throught that tomorrow. I want the car on the road as soon as possible so the pre made MS is looking like a nice option.

Once the insurance quits lagging and let's me total it and buy it back everything will be up for sale. I will start a proper thread for it all in the for sale section.

Pics of the 02 to be posted soon!!

So would something like this be what I would need?

Right now it is looking like almost $350 for the computer plus $65 for the wiring harness, plus $88 for the stimulator. Then i need a crank position sensor and wheel and a wide band o2 sensor right? Plus relays and wiring and heatshrink and all that.

The carb setup is looking pretty appealing. I can get a set of dual weber sidedrafts for around $800-900... The efi would be pretty sweet but its looking like it may be a little too much at this point...

yup, thats the one. I have the 3.52 board but this looks like a slightly upgraded one than mine. For purposes of reliability and power, Id stick to the MS route. Now looking back, I dont know how I drove my car with stock AFM and software....its just nice knowing you can control fuel and spark and nearly everything from a simple laptop.

What do you mean " it might be too much at this point?"

I think 2002s are more cool with side-drafts.
