Who says Cash for Clunkers was a bad idea?

It can't be all bad when you score a couple items before the crush. I'm still waiting on a call back about the interior bits. It's an 88 cabbie. Shame they locked her up at only 92xxx. Please forgive the cellphone pics.

Every day I wake up we drink a lot of coffee and watch the CNN
Every day I wake up to a bowl of clover honey and let the locusts fly in.
    Lobsterbacks attack the town again
Wrap all my things in aluminum
Beams of darkness streak across the sky
Pink rays from the ancient satellite
Every time I look out my window same three dogs looking back at me.
Every time I open my windows cranes fly in to terrorize me.

It was a terrible idea. Chevy was already giving a $7500 rebate + trade in just before the cfc started. Ford and dodge were also giving rebates of $5k+. We as Americans are getting dumb. Yeah it was a good way to get rid of junk but some of the cars I have seen go through the cfc were not that bad. And what about the poeple that can only afford $4500< cars and have no credit. They got screwed. Trust me I work at a dealership and people are just dumb sometimes.

Edit: Great find by the way.

I agree, I work at a dealer as well. The whole program is a joke, and who picks up the tab? The tax payers, one more ass reeming from our govt. Its not about the enviroment at all, it was about stimulating a weakening job sector of our economy, and an attempt to save U.S. jobs. But they failed on that attempt as well. Here is a list of top 10 new cars bought:

                  1. Toyota Corolla
                  2. Honda Civic
                  3. Ford Focus
                  4. Toyota Camry
                  5. Hyundai Elantra
                  6. Toyota Prius
                  7. Nissan Versa
                  8. Ford Escape FWD
                  9. Honda Fit
                  10. Honda CR-V AWD

Alot of that money is going overseas

On a side note there is a super clean e30 e25i 4dr That was clunked where I work, unfortunatley Im not allowed to remove parts. Did you get those from a junk yard? or directly off the car?

You realize that many of those cars are built here in the US of A, right? Even the Japanese ones?

Of course I used to work on hondas at a honda dealer. Do you realize that those are trans-national companies? Not all hondas, toyotas are made in the U.S. broham. Therefore it is a true statement that a good portion of that money(OUR TAX DOLLARS) went outside of the country. If you like the ever increasing debt that ways over our heads go ahead keep drinking that kool aid. calling me stupid is stupid...you dont know me and I do not know you. I am merely offering a clear perspective of the political bullshit that be. However, since this is a car forum and I have deviated off topic I will shut up.

actually the number 1 on your list is made in the town where i live. toyota's largest plant is in the U.S. and as much money has gone to japan from this, at least twice as much is staying in the states. in fact toyota has hired back almost all people laied off, given back hours to those whos hours were cut and started hiring new staff. and before anyone starts on the "they wont even start before they are cut" bullshit, they have started. and toyota unlike certain american car companies is very very good at using the work force they have and knowing when to fire/hire. im not so sure about honda or any of the others but i know toyota, who is the largest benefactor from this program, is mostly a us company. most of the parts are made in the states and most of the cars also.

as much as i have my problems with this program, it did very well for the us and its people. also its nice to see some of that huge stimulus bill actually being used.

Frosh - How did you score parts from a clunker car? Salvage yard by you, or do you have an inside man?
