I have spoken to him and asked wtf and he insists this is the case. He is a Major and for some reason they need a person with his rank/skills where he is and seem to not have a replacement. He is working to get out as his family needs him home.

Maybe but the Army JAG has many people. It's not that short of a career field. Most Reserves did make of two years call ups that are non combat related. Then volunteer for more time. Like I.

He did his 2 years during Desert storm, he just felt like he should help as they asked because he has the legal skills they needed. He was in the WTC and got out alive and felt he owed it to the ones that didn't get out.

Not questioning his commitment. Just I know that if have served your call up time the max time you have to do is 2 yrs or AD in a span of 5 yrs. Unless on volunteer duty.
