Douchebag Drivers

I had an incident today coming home from school. Some 40ish year old guy in a new passat rode my ass all the way into town (about 4 miles). And when ever he got a chance he would WOT pass me and cut me off. I did nothing to provoke this guy, my car is completely stock looking so there is no reason for him to be a intimidated.
Towards the end of the drive he was ahead of me and happened to be heading the same way I was. Every turn he took I had to take also, and I wasn't actually following him. Yet he kept basically launching his car (I could see it lurch forward like he was power braking it) at every light or stop sign. Also most of this driving took place on highways with 35-45 mph speed limits and a part of a residential area that's only 25 mph.

Do any of you have any db drivers in your area that drive like absolute jackasses any time you happen to be near them in traffic? My area is covered in them whether its loud riced out cars to rednecks in lifted trucks, there's even a kid in a red e30 thats loud as hell.

Yes, I live in a town of about 200 people that is roughly 20 min from more populated areas. Naturally its hickville since its in the middle of nowhere and has such a small population. In hickville there is one other bmw besides mine and it is a e46 328i four door. Our commutes seem to be just slightly off, but occasionally they will sync up. One day on my way home I'm heading down a four lane highway. I approach a line of cars in the right hand lane going a little slower than my taste. I go over into the left lane and proceed to go around the line of cars. No sooner do I get out ahead of the lead car and guess who jumps out and guns it to get up on my rear bumper. Casually I change lanes and let him go around me. Unprovoked he then slams down on the gas (I have it on good athority its an auto) and takes off easily doing 80-90 mph on a crowded road in a 55mph. All I could see was his Oakland Raiders Liscense plate surround and multiple anti- Obama bumper stickers (yes bumper stickers). A little further down the road we wind up at a stop light, him infront of me and a newer GTO in the lane next to him, the light turns green and he takes off like he's Don Garlits or some shit. The GTO didn't even acknowledge the move and just continued to drive normally, when I got up next to the GTO we looked at each other and just shook our heads. Besides that guy its really just a mix of shitty beat down grand prix's and the like that drive like douches. I tend to just ignore it all and take care of my car.

I usually avoid topics like these since im a fairly aggressive driver BUT im not a regular driver and have a good understanding of my car and its limits.
It sucks being a safe responsible driver, you leave plenty of room in front of you and people think its an invitation to get ahead of you, or people tailgate because they think everyone else is doing it but i dont tolerate that kind of behavior for one minute.

One example is a guy in a old civic with tasteful mods (read: ricer), was weaving through traffic and got up to me and an E38 that were leading the pack, my car has some stickers on it (because i think it just looks cool) and he was accelerating and braking to try and provoke me to do some stupid race, and he decided to continue on and just lost control weaving about 1/4 of a mile ahead and plowed straight into the wall at what would be like 90 MPH. WHY do i have to share the road with people like that? Or people that drive with one foot out the door, people who dont turn right on red, people who underspeed, and the list goes on.

I know a lot would agree and disagree with me but i think there needs to be a better license you can take with a special plate on the car to show that you absolutely without a doubt know how to control a car, i got a speeding ticket for 70 in 65 a long time ago which is extremely unfair....i know some would say "dont speed" but when soccer moms are going 85 MPH at the same time as i was with children in the car.....you gotta look at other factors.
Actually ask Alkasquawlik, when we went on a drive a few months ago i told him not to go over 75 MPH on the highway

Yesterday I was taking a little drive to charge up my battery, and I didn't notice anything weird at first, but when I got the the first stop sign [on this 4 lane road] there was a white pick-up next to me who had followed me, on my tail all the way down the street. Then at the stop sign he/she pulled up next to me and when I started to go so did they, no problem right? Well oops, I just remembered I was going to take the back way into my driveway so I need to be in different lanes.... so I start off slowly thinking the truck will just take off and leave, but nnooo. They stay slow and ride along side me all the way through the intersection. And theres no way they were just going slow... cause i'm talking really slow [for a 35mph road.]

agree 120% I'd get one. Someplace like... the BMWCCA's driving school that teaches you to handle a car in extreme situations and shit like that. You should get a special tag

i drive fairly defensively because i dont trust most drivers. it doesnt help that a lot of roads around here have lots of turn only lanes (poorly marked to boot) that immediately merge and lots of traffic. intersections are always full of morons who think they can make the yellow and end up sitting in the middle of the intersection blocking traffic going the other way.

they dont call 'em (i hate to include myself) mass holes for nothing.

If you remember that you only control your own car, you can let the other drivers do their thing. I'd rather have morons in front of me where I can see them and avoid any crap they get into instead of in my mirrors making me wonder what they're doing next. Just let 'em go.
