As the title says, this is a 4.1 LSD from an E30 M3. In good condition. For the edification of the snickering masses on http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=149420 http://www.e30tech.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82102 http://www.s14.net/forums/showthread.php?t=41477 ...the M3 diff I am selling is part number 33101212731. It is NOT 33101211665 which is fairly readily found in scrap yards from 318i convertibles and whatnot. Bought from Double 02 years ago to replace a cooked one. Was in the car for only a few months and the car got totalled (hit a deer). Been sitting on my parts shelf for four years or so waiting for me to build up another M3. Well - that probably isn't going to happen anytime soon. So letting this go. This LSD was $1100 four or more years ago at Double 02 (call and ask Dean and Marshall what they'd get for one now - you'll be shocked.) Are you a Bimmrhead? This LSD needs a new home. Email me.
Update: I've been informed that my original ratio was not correct. This is not a 4.11:1; it's a 4.1:1. Big thank you to "Matt" - one of the most "passionate" diff ratio "experts" I've ever met. You know....I would expect to be called a liar if I was the President giving a speech to congress, but I hadn't expected it just posting on craigslist. So thank you Matt for being so cordial to a fellow BMW fan.

Oh snap - am I getting ripped off by this seller?!!!!!!!!!!

I agreed to pay $900, because I haven't been able to find an M3 diff that wasn't already worked over. I want it for my turbo convertible project.

Seller said it's actually a 4.10 from an M3. Now you guys are saying that he's charging way more than market - but I can't find any others. Should I bail on this guy? I told him I'd come buy it tomorrow. Please help a guy out here.

These diffs are all over the place for pretty short money, alot of auto 325's had em. No different then the M3 ones, same part #33101212731.

did the M3 have different lockup? I thought is was more than the 25% of the other e30's...
                can anybody clarify that?

as others have said, m3 diff is no different from auto 325i lsd diff. 25% lockup 4.11:1- same part number. plenty of 4.10:1 lsds around as well. very small difference id say.

what the hell is a 4.11? no E30s ever had those

M3 diff is the same thing as autos with LSD. that's like calling things like headlights, the hood, dash etc. "m3" parts when they're exactly the same thing.

^this is true. i was wrong in calling them 4.11, for some reason i remembered them being labeled that but i dont see many. either way it still stands that they are indeed the same part, m3 diff & auto 325 diff.
