    The M30 runs!!!!!!!!!!

I got my cleaned and flow tested injectors back today from cruzin performance and tried starting the engine but no go, so after dark I started trouble shooting and found out the fuel pump relay had a bad ground, I grounded it right to the chassis, and the engine started before one revolution  With the 11lb flywheel it revs nice and fast it went from 1,000 rpm's to 3500 almost instantly. Next week I'll pull the m30 out of the parts car, and then december 16th after my last Final exam the m20 comes out and the m30 in. :D :D

Now why did you install it in the junker again?? Seems to me like double work for no reason.

Edit: Forgot to congratulate you. Glad to see it done finally. Gets some numbers.

I dunno, if I had spare E30's like Ely, I'd probably do the same. Less down time on your daily driver I suppose

I was thinking on the same wavelength ;) Plus, its good to know the motor starts and runs well before you install it your car.

Exactly, I put it in the parts car to get everything lined up, wiring taken care, and exhuast. This way it will be a direct bolt in swap, the only fabbing needed will be some firewall pounding and a heatshild for my cold air intake.
The engine had sat for over a year so I wanted to make sure it runs before I pulled the engine from my daily driver.

I wish I had a shell to do all that in. It would have been nice to spend a couple months making everything perfect so I could just toss the engine in the daily.
                  Im now E30less.

yep, I haven't made everything to perfect as it's an 87 and my car is an 88 and has some frame damage so stuff will fit just a little different, but the driveshaft, shiftlinkage, is ready to bolt in. Plus I'm going to replace the subframe and trailing arm bushings so I wanted to allow time to do this as school starts back up january 18th.

Another thing you guys should know about this swap is that the engine comes in and out several times if you are fabbing parts.
George and I made our own motor mounts for the furthest position back to save the handling and distrubiute the weight evenly. This required the engine to be put in and pulled out 4 times that I clearly remember, one of which we dropped the whole suspension out to do.
