the aluminum in the plate [if those are cheapies] will fail before the bolts or chassis. you will find some really fun handling attributes as a result of the break... that and a ruined hood

Nope...not a mechanical engineer. I'm just an M.D./Ph.D. who runs a biomedical engineering lab at the Harvard/MIT division of Health Sciences & Technology. But it's pretty obvious you're not a mechanical engineer either ;)
No thanks. I'd rather not.
For someone who doesn't care, you sure seem sensitive about it.
If you're going to post pics and ask for feedback, then you shouldn't be surprised when people give you feedback.sigpic

This thread isn't going to work I see, apparently no one went to h20 and took pictures of my car. If a moderated reads this please close it. There is another thread I started so people like you can comment. Also, I'm glad to see you are such an smart guy! So when you build your first car... No, your the guy that has the money to get others to do it. So when your shop builds you something original and your writting that check you can be proud of your achievements. Good luck to you in life. When my camberplates give out and I die just remember that you were the guy that told me so! I hope this will help you sleep better at night. Thank you so much for your concern please direct all other comments to my bash my build thread!Nope...not a mechanical engineer. You don't need to be a genius to see why your ride-height hack is risky. You're the one who asked me if I was an engineer. I have enough of a background in engineering to make an informed comment about your solution.
You're barking up the wrong tree. I've done tons of work on quite a few cars over the last 15 years or so (including engine swaps). I suspect I may even have more experience than you do, since I wouldn't ghetto-rig something as critical as an upper strut mount...or use plumbing for an engine mount:

When you spend some time on the track, maybe you'll understand why these aren't such great ideas.sigpic
