You're barking up the wrong tree. I've done tons of work on quite a few cars over the last 15 years or so (including engine swaps). I suspect I may even have more experience than you do, since I wouldn't ghetto-rig something as critical as an upper strut mount (or use plumbing for an engine mount).
When you spend some time on the track, maybe you'll understand why this isn't such a great idea.
