    Protecting my computer part 2

In the house im in, we have wireless, and the main box is connected to another kids computer, should I have reason to be worried about the possible viruses on his computer transfering to mine (spyware too)? Also, theres a girl who lives with us, she doesnt have the main box, but shes connected as well. IM not sure if there is some sort of firewall with the box, but its a 802.11 g, thats about all i know, and it was bought about 4 months ago i beleive.

Pretty much all 'boxes' (also known as Routers) act as hardware firewalls and by default, they normally block a lot of the traffic that causes harm. As far as sharing viruses and spyware between the computers networked, it depends on how you have each indivual computer set up within, what I would assume, Windows.

There is a lot of documenation on this available on the internet. The manufacturer more than likely has documentation on thier website.

Pretty soon I'm going to ditch my Norton's 2004 Anti-Virus (just a few days remaining) and I plan on trying a new application called PC Cillin. The IT director from my work recommended it as a much more effective anti-virus software. Its $42 + shipping at newegg.com. Here's a product link...

I really dont' see what the problem is.

I'm on a DSL line with no router/firewall, and I have the same IP all the time. I run no anti-virus, no software firewall, nothing. I just keep my windows updated.

If you don't believe me, you can PM me for my hijackthis log.

                    I run Windows Firewall / NOD32 Antivirus.

NOD32 is by far the best active scanning utility I've found... doesn't eat resources like Norton .

you should use spybot search and destroy on both computers just for shits and giggles.
