In the house im in, we have wireless, and the main box is connected to another kids computer, should I have reason to be worried about the possible viruses on his computer transfering to mine (spyware too)? Also, theres a girl who lives with us, she doesnt have the main box, but shes connected as well. IM not sure if there is some sort of firewall with the box, but its a 802.11 g, thats about all i know, and it was bought about 4 months ago i beleive.

Pretty much all 'boxes' (also known as Routers) act as hardware firewalls and by default, they normally block a lot of the traffic that causes harm. As far as sharing viruses and spyware between the computers networked, it depends on how you have each indivual computer set up within, what I would assume, Windows.Originally posted by bmwannabe

I really dont' see what the problem is.
I'm on a DSL line with no router/firewall, and I have the same IP all the time. I run no anti-virus, no software firewall, nothing. I just keep my windows updated.

Skafrog has that I believe, I know his brother does. He needs to chime in and give an opinion. yea, muiltiple times PC-Cillin has picked up stuff that Norton hasnt.

I run Windows Firewall / NOD32 Antivirus.
NOD32 is by far the best active scanning utility I've found... doesn't eat resources like Norton .
