well, i found out why i was taken off of ebay. Turns out i had given false information in haveing a clean title. So i was like wtf. The past owner of the car had told me it had never been in an accident or anything. So i guy carfax for 1 month and it turns out that it once had a salvage title, then a rebuilt title, and on my registration now it stays standard. This is not a big problem, just a turnoff to future buyers, which accually is a big problem for me. Is there anything i can do about this with the guy i bought my car from??

How long ago did you buy it? Do you have any reason to believe he knew about the title issue?Originally posted by 318driverwell, i found out why i was taken off of ebay. Cars can get salvage titles without really being in an accident. It gets stolen, and dropped, put into impound etc.Originally posted by 318driverwell, i found out why i was taken off of ebay. May be a big difference between the Salvage title and the Rebuilt title. Salvage may just be a theft recovery. Rebuilt, well, that implies much more . . .Originally posted by trentCars can get salvage titles without really being in an accident. I looked at the Carfax. Looks like a small wreck in 1991. No info on the '94 wreck. While If I were buying it I'd want to inspect it closely, I would not be scared off unless an inspection turned up something. From the pictures I have seen, looks like it was repaired well.Originally posted by Jon325iThis is very, very true. Salvage titles are a bunch of bulshit.
My mothers 95 M3 has a branded title "Previous damage in the state of California"
Some previous owner rearended someone (how do you manage to do that with those M binders?) anyways... the bumper cover, bumper, both fenders, and hood are new DOT-R replacements. The nose panel is the original one! I don't see how that is worthy of a branded title... the only damage beyond that is the front bumper carriers (that extend off the frame) were crumpled back about 6 inches. They were pulled out properly and are now mint.Tenured Automotive Service Professional - Avid BMW Enthusiast
