    BMW still a good company?

It seems to be getting harder and harder to defend BMW in my circle of friends. We may have finally made it out of the Bangle years but this year alone BMW has dropped out of F1(and has consistently placed last or close), has introducing their first front wheel drive car (0-series, after saying they would never build a front wheel drive car), lost their 1st place mid size luxury spot to Audi (after a 15 year streak), are being completely out sold (down 18% compared to Audi's 6% drop and Mercedes 12% drop), and had an embarrassing announcement to switch to a company in pursuit of efficiency while simultaneously announcing the new twin turbo 760li.

I need some ammo, what are they doing right? I still believe BMW to be the best car company, I'm a little scared where they're heading though.

It's a long fall from the top.

In before the cliche "I don't care, every BMW I'll ever own has already been built."

Who cares? If they can't understand why BMWs rock compared to Audi's or Mercedes - fuck them.

BMW's always said they'd never build a front-wheel-drive car or platform prostitute a BMW off the MINI platform. Now, according to Car Magazine, BMW's apparently reversed themselves on both, greenlighting a MINI-derived "0-Series" lineup that'll go on sale in 2013.

A spit of info on the 0-series.

no its a mini platform cross over thing. Its kinda like the bastard child of an X6 and a Mini.

Yeah, I've been having this problem as well. A friend's wife is planning to buy a new sports sedan and asked about the current BMW's that are availible. Conversation started well, but by the end I found myself defending Mercede's new offerings... never thought that would happen.

It sucks, but it is reality.

Why on earth would you buy a new BMW over a new Audi? New BMW's are terrible.

Why would you buy either over a new c class. The AMG has a 6.2 liter!

I'll have to concur, when E36s could be had at dealers brand new, I didn't dislike any of the other model lines....

Aside from my 135i and the new X5 diesel, I really could care less for the rest of BMW's line-up. But I wouldn't buy an Audi or Mercedes over any of them.
