So who was at Pacific BMW's accessory fest last Saturday?

I went but only saw a few E30's. Saw the white one with the DOHC Vanos sticker on the side driving around and a Sterling 318iS. There was a clean black/black 325iS with some type of BBS wheels parked in the corner of the show that was really clean. I was looking at that car more than the E90's and other baller cars that were there. I caught up with the owner as he was leaving and he had a new interior and new factory dash installed. Was wondering if he was on R3v.

Anyway that new dash ($800) has the same rubber-like texture as the dashes in the current BMW's and looked VERY nice. The owner claimed that's how ours looked from the factory back in the 80's but I don't think so. I was around a lot of E30's in the 80's and never seen a dash like this one. It looks like this new style will probably never crack compared to our old vinyl/foam dashes. If only it weren't so damn expensive = /.

Barry, I wanted to go just to rep the E30's but couldn't make it!

The white car is my buddy's 318iS M50.

Any pics of said dash, Barry? Factory??? It sounds very interesting and might just be what I'm looking for. TIA.

Unfortunately I don't. I'm sure there are new dash pics somewhere online.

So the dash was a dealership install? Installed at Pacific BMW perhaps? I'm gonna contact my dealership down here and look into it. Thanks for any further info.

I don't know if it was or not. Replacing the dash is tedious but definately a DIY job. I just did the one in my convertible. I just picked up a good dash for $100 and changed it myself.

                Check it out:

Hmmm...that new dash does seem to be "rubbery" in texture. I kept looking at the pics and then realized "what about the glove box and center console?". They'll probably not match up unless I get them to. Damn it man the project/s ensues...lol. Thanks for the link.

I do have an extra dash somewhere in storage also, so that I can still play with. I'll hit you up when I get something done with it.

                    Barry,

Fwiw, I believe the dash and rear center console are coming with this new 'rubberized' finish. UNHCLL and I noticed it looks an awful lot like the finish on E46 interior parts. I ordered a new front center console to see if it matched, since I wanted all the pieces to match. it doesn't. You can see pics here..

(1200px wide, didn't want to embed it).

The front center console is not the brand new one, but it is virtually mint and the brand new one looks just like it with a little less shine. The big problem for me is that the feel is off. That and the subtle shift in color. I'm on the road for the next week, but when I get back I can snap a photo of the brand new one for you.

                    Anyway.. hope you're well.

YES! that's exactly what I'm talking about. Thanks for the confirmation. I knew it was different. Strange that the front center doesn't come the same way. It looks like a subtle way to modernize the interior.

Barry, My guess is that they're still sitting on a ton of old stock of the front center console, and will switch those over to the "new" finish once the old ones are gone.

as for the shift knob boot setup, i got mine from Turner...

Hey Barry, your talking about George. I was there for that cars restoration. He got brand new oem leather for the interior, new carpet, the badass dash, all consoles, glovebox, everything, all from the dealer. That car also got a sick re-spray. BTW wheels are BBS CV 17x7.5
