The 3.0 litre inline six-cylinder diesel develops 530 Nm of torque at as early as 1,500 rpm.
the engine reaching its maximum torque of 560 Nm at 2,000 rpm
the power unit reaching a maximum output of 200 kW/272 bhp at 4,400 rpm. :o

          This is dieselpower ;)

            word.

That's why i think if i ever got around to buying a new BMW it would either have to be a diesel or an M car.

I agree with Rob, I want a modern bmw diesel. I know of a website that has a wrecked 524td in stock but I want the more modern diesel engine.

                    Charlie, whats the Stevo bumper?

Nobody has answered if it would be possible to convert a petrol car to a diesel.

An E30 324td is in fact the same body/suspension as an 320i car

                      12v M21 is the same as an 12v M20
24v M51 is the same as an 24v M50 swap wise

                      EDIT:
                      I know a couple E46 4banger diesels (320d 2.2l 150hp stock) pushing out 215hp and 395Nm and much easier tuningwise

The early E46 320d was quite a spunky little car. They hadn't resolved turbo lag issues yet though. I had a friend that went drag racing in his girlfriend's 320d. that little bastard hauled ass and didn't consume jack crap worth of diesel.

I figured it would be a straight forward swap engine/tranny wise, I was curious also about if I need to do anything different to the fuel system. Modern diesel = hella torque and low gas mileage. Perfect recipe for a DD.

Well, i would think a different tank, lines, having to swap the engine with complete harness, all the sensors... probably the instrument panel. it'd be hard to an E30

same difficulty level as an M50 swap
E30 324d and 325i are the same tanks
go with the big case diff.
fuel system : clean everthing for 110% if you wanna go with an Common rail system

no, more difficulty. M50 is an OBD-I engine. New diesels are OBD-II if i'm not mistaken. That alone is a problem, not to mention the EWS issues you'd have to sort out.

Plus, the M50 sends signals compatible with the E30 instrument cluster, newer engines do not; unless i'm mistaken.
