I called the seller. He claims it to be original M3 given to Baur for a chop.
He bought it from a second owner who swapped the tail lights, cutting a bigger hole for them (why???)

I also asked would he sell the front suspension but he wasn't interested... :(

I would say it's a 325 Baur with some modifications.
You can do a great job putting on M3 bodypanels and converting to 5 lug, check this out:

yeah that definitely doesn't look like an original m3. the trunk is what bugs me most, although I have no idea how Baur would engineer the top to work with that trunk lid. M20 under there? ridiculous.

probably an original baur that got in a terrible wreck... guy got a hefty check from insurance and used it to make an M3 copy-cat... or just had an m3 as a parts car? easy enough to see on the VIN if it's an m3. I doubt it.
