Yup. Definitely E30 M3 Cabrio panels (or replicas) stuck onto a regular E30 Cabrio. If Poland is anything like Romania and Turkey, then labor and bodywork is pretty cheap. Should be pretty easy to make such a mongrel.

My first thought was that it's fake, but I'm telling you - making a baur based M3 replica is one thing, but 5-lug? Not common... not here anyways.

And Poland is nothing like Romania nor Turkey... M3 body panels are not cheap. Labour isn't either.

If it's a fake, someone went through a lot (A LOT) of trouble to replicate it.

I'm telling you - the sellers swears it's an M3 chopped by Baur...

guys, baur retrofitted late model tails when they produced this car.
it could be real, i think thats worth following through at least

Interesting. The OP said the previous owner swapped the taillights on the car. I never heard of Baur doing anything other than chopping the top and converting cars to convertible. Never heard of swapping tails, etc...why would they? Also notice that the original car still has the M3 trunk/wing including the bottom part of the rear extension. The diamondschwarze car has a normal trunk and big tails. It's less likely to be a real M3. Hard to say what is original these days after 20+ years.

OP, get the vin... if its a real m3 then that would be pretty amazing since the DS one is though to be a one off

Why does it have late tails?

Because they wanted to... in perspective i think it would be much harder to chop the top off then to retrofit tails. Its not like baur wouldnt have the ability to do so.

Would be interesting to get the story behind it. Hard to tell how well it was done from the pictures but I'm sure there are enough records out there to find out who has had a part in it.

Yeah but that's an M3 vert built by BMW based on the convertible body. If the car started as an M3 sedan it would have the extension and trunk. So on the black car, Baur would have had to cut that out, get rid of the trunk, make the trunk opening larger, then convert to larger tails??? just doesn't seem likely unless it was a 1 off just for shits and giggles. That's a lot more work than just chopping the top and replacing it with a framed canvas.

The silver one seems to be fake with it's M20 but it does have the M3 extension (why would someone weld it on, only to chop it for the top) and trunk as well as 5 lug. That's just not very common to see on an M3 conversion. Looks like it might have been a real M3 sedan.
