Majority of the E30s I've seen are driven by older people, generally women. They are not ethusiants, just drive and keep them up. LIke Mitch in Old School. It was just a car to him.

Now, ethusiant E30 owners are generally young teenage boys. That, and old men that utilize them as track/race cars.

How's an old E30 seen? Just an old car, not particularly a BMW. Not classified as one at least, the E36 and newer are "BMWs". But who gives a fuck what people think? They're cheap, pretty easy to keep up oneself, and fun.

I think e30's are generally seen as old, boxy boring cars. But people are still impressed when they see mine for the first time because it's lowered, 5-speed, and all black. The other day a guy in my class said that he had been checking my car out on the street and decided e30's were one of his favorite "cool, nerd cars"

I'm embarassed to tell people I drive a BMW too. I usually mention it's age so they know I'm not a snob.

I love the fact that most people are oblivious to the unseen wickedness that the e30 is.
It's one of the perks of driving one. ;)

yeah, people generally tell me. "dude you drive a BMW!" im say, yeah. its old though. They proceed to tell me its still a BMW. What they dont realize is usually their car is worth at least twice what mine is. Im half tempted to one day be like, "yeah its a BMW, ill trade you for your car" Then just sell theirs and buy 2 or 3 E30's, haha. It might just work...

a lot of bmw owners are pretentious. granted, it's an expensive automobile when purchased new. therefore, many bmw owners have a lot of money. obviously there are a lot of broke kids on here. but a lot of kids' parents have a lot of money. therefore, they tend to have certain views. views that are very self-serving. Many tend not to understand that everyone doesn't have lots of money like them. Many tend not to understand the word "struggle," beyond their own "I have to pay car insurance and my cellphone bill and 2way pager bill and I only have a part time job."

that being said, there are good bmw owners out there, too.

I'd say overall, BMW owners are like a family. You've got your close brothers and sisters, your parents, then those oddball members of the family and the eccentrics.

But overall, we're all good people, regardless of Bimmer of choice.

I think we can all agree that not everybody that owns a BMW is a jerk, but the stereotype is there and when I say that I own a BMW, especially when I'm in Indiana, I can feel people judging me.

I also get the "It's still a BMW" or sometimes I get the "At least you got a car!" But I'm still proud to say I have a BMW and espacialy proud to say that I bought it on my own.

The other day I showed my E30 to a friend. He was disapointed by the age but after driving around all evening, his opinion changed drastically. (and it's just a stock 320i, imagine a modded one.)

Ha, so true. Shit, I don't even like the looks much of the boxy E30 with a huge back window......but dig IS lips and euro ellips, and cool wheels. But after letting friends ride or drive it, they get hooked to the fun and the sounds. If it wasn't as cheap to mantain and mod, or as fun to throw about......hmmm. But it is.

Well, if anyone's still reading these (I guess I read em all), I 'll offer my two bits.

Generally when I tell people about my car, they can tell I'm a BMW enthusuast. But I'm also a 20 yr old college student, so they know what I SHOULD be driving. Somehow, they still see my car as a B-M-W, so they actually still think it's too much car for someone my age. Most girls that see my car say "cute car" or something along those lines, as if the "cute car" compliment was the reason to buy my car. It's ok if they say that, but I don't really want a cute car. The most respect you get is if you drive e30s together or wash em together. Then they look really nice. I really prefer the e30 to most all BMWs, so I'm not at all apologetic for having one. I'm proud of my car, but not stupid about it (I dont exagurate its 1/4 times or HP). If you have a high self esteem about your car and take really good care of it, people can see that and it influences them to appreciate it.

You should see people's reactions when I tell them I have 2 BMW's! They won't listen when I say they're old and one is a complete pile of shit, I also get the "it's still a BMW" thing a lot. Whatever, I love my cars and am happy I am not another lost sole driving a Honda. As far as the age, most modified E30 owners are teens and early 20's, I'm 18. Most people who drive stock E30's are older men or women who just think they have a BMW. Most of the stock ones in my town are Eta's, it's rare to see any other model E30. Except mine and my friends.

e30's are the best kept secret to owning a quality car if you don't have alot of money. I feel sorry for all the people that drive around in beatup used cars that probably spent the same amount of money it would take to get a e30.
