    BM drivers in US... ??

    hi

i've got some questions about you guys.

1- How are seen "e30 drivers" in united states?

2- and... who are e30 drivers (young, old, middle class... people ??)

ps : hope u understand my english

most of us here on the boards are relatively young, mainly late teens to twenties, small group of 30+

as for how we are seen, thats hard, in general the e30 is just another old car. I guess those of us who like to tinker with them are seen as eccentric or something

we arent that well known here. There is a huge domestic and japanese import scene going on, therefore not much attention is paid to BMWs.

I have no compaint. It's a bang for the buck car here. Good performance and an ok daily driver for it's cost.

umm E30 drivers probably consider themselves the more car-enthuasiast people of the BMW community. Speaking from this community, E30 drivers are farily...cost effective....we try to solve our own problems and not run the car to the dealer if possible. A lot of us dont drive E30's because we couldnt afford an E36, its because we like the E30 better. The majority of people on here are farily young, i think it average is like 20 or something. Most e30 drivers try to escape the "BMW driving prick" stigma and when they tell other people they drive a bmw...they say its an "old BMW".

Your english isn't that bad, hows Paris this time of year?

I'll chime in on this one as well. I live in California.....a state known for its car culture madness where many folks are hung up on the car image thing. Out here, its having the newest thing available that gets attention. Some older cars get looks too......but not BMWs.

When it comes to E30s, we are definately a less pretentious group than some folks I've met with newer BMWs. When some people ask me "what kind of car do you drive?" And I say, "A BMW." The initial response I get is "wow....how did you afford such a nice car?" Then I tell them its a 1991 325i and all the sudden they look at me like I'm some poor sap :?

I beg to differ. There is not much attention paid to E30's, and even E36's are starting to get the cold shoulder. At just about any notable import show, you will see at least 5-6 E46's. Popularity of them amongst modders is also starting to increase due to the fact that Craig Leiberman, the guy who built the Skyline in "2 Fast, 2 Furious", just built a widebody E46 M3 that's just about damn near as riced out as that Skyline was.

I get a lot of "Oh, you got an old school Bimmer, cool,I guess" from the highschool tools.

Of the old cars these do get some respect. Probably more than they should get. People assume it costs a lot of money.

In my area though 9 of 10 E30 drivers are 16-19 year old females.
                    Im now E30less.

thats so me, people often respond saying its still a BMW.
I just say nah, its a POS.

the less e30s lovers, the more parts for me

I often find myself saying I drive an old shitty bimmer because if you dont throw that qualifyer in there people assume I am a silver spoon child since I look 12 years old.

I also get the "Wow, you drive a BMW!" and then when I say it's an 1987 they lose any interest they might of had. As for age, well I'm 17 and my E30 is my first car. For 2200$ it's the greatest car I could of found in my opinion (besides better E30s). Besides, I doubt anyone here bought an E30 for the "looks" they'd get. Bimmers are just great cars that are great to drive around.

PS: Ton anglais n'est pas mauvais, si tu veux parler en francais je peux traduire aussi.

most of the people I see driving E30s are old women and old men.. and most people probably just see an old BMW, although a few years ago it was different (the new BMW designs have really dated our cars). I don't care much though, I'd rather put $2k a year into an old car than have a $500 car payment every month. :)

I still get compliments though, and people wanting to buy it from me. that's not the reason I bought the car though.
