so my sister wrecked the 318ti *project completed pg2*
Dude... its a worthless car, and its 3x as worthless now. Don't put any money into fixing a car with zero resale value.
The Ti's actually have a much higher resale value than most of the regular e36's.

I've noticed that when browsing such sites as AutoTrader.com. I suppose since its more "unique" than your run-of-the-mill E36, it can command a higher price.....even if it just a 4-banger.

It also won't have a rebuilt title since there won't be an insurance claim on it. Liablility only isn't going to pay him so it's either part it out or fix it and keep on driving.
I say fix it and let her drive it some more, probably won't be the last wreck and why get a new car to just mess it up again?
If you wanted a perfect car then no, don't bother, but it doesn't sound like that's the case here.

I still think we need pictures of you sister. You know, for safety's sake.
lol.. 8) she is okay. i dont have any pictures of her on my computer, id have to find something. This car has is her daily down in baltimore, and there is only potential for it to get worse. I think if this car goes another 50-75k miles then its worth fixing it. The overall condition is above average otherwise.
Day I'm not included on my families insurance I'm getting full coverage. Having a sister who made a few too many mistakes, losing license for long periods of time makes everyone's insurance way too much.
If you can't end up fixing the body you will have the parts for a 5-lug swap and you can eBay the drive train and other junk. I'm sure the LSD (if it has one) would be of interest to someone. At any rate you could get a good chunk of change for the parts alone.

This is a funny story. Car is at a frame shop, been over a week now. And parts just showed up on Thursday. Turns out they were sitting at dullas for several weeks before we were notified and then the delivery company never picked them up. After countless phone calls with the delivery company, they finally showed up somehow. Well, the hood and bumper that they sent were damaged (these were new parts). A corner of the hood was folded back and the bumper was split in two.
The parts weren't too expensive, about 500-600 bucks I believe but the shipping was huge, and the ^*)&**)ers didnt even get them here timely. The parts company is sending another hood and bumper cover, but I dont know how long this is going to take. The frame shop needed the core support to line up the bumper mounts, so they at least have that and with any luck the car should be back end of the week or next week so I can start lining up stuff.
Other than that I still dont know when or how it will get painted. I have the means to do it, but need some warm weather or a heated garage. I will post pictures of the final product.
Well, took much longer than anticipated, but the car is finally DONE!!! It looks better than I had ever expected. The paint does not match, which is pretty much a given, but the parts lined up decently after many hours of tweaking. Obviously its not going to be perfect based on the blow it took, and the frame had to be cut and welded with a new portion of a rail, so this was also an issue. Final price was a little steep, i think around 2k or 2.5. The paint however was free (1 quart).
I would also like to add that I did NOT paint this car. I was going to but my dad did himself because he didnt trust me I think. Not saying I would have done better, but the paint is def not perfect..... on to pics
first drive no hood, turns, well not much of anything, and it had snowed that night. good thing it was only a 2 mile trip.
