    smell of gas?

Ok during the past few days I seem to be getting the smell of fuel in my 88 cabrio for some reason? Esp right after start up. I've looked under the hood and can't seem to find anything leaking like an injector or fuel line. Does anyone have a clue where this might be coming from? Has anyone else ever had the same problem? Is there some way fumes could be backflowing out of the K&N somehow? I have no clue but any help would be appreciated.

Also on another note I would like to know if anyone here has a set of rear eibach springs for the cabbie? All I need is the rears though. If I have to I'll buy a whole set but I'd rather just buy the rears since I already have the fronts. Please let me know.

    TIA,

Seeping soft fuel lines is my Number 1 guess. It has happened to me before. If you can't find it. You might want to bring it by a mechanic. This is a serious safety issue.

Might sound like a stupid question, but are you 100% sure the smell is fuel and not just an exhaust leak? It can be hard to tell the difference sometimes.

I'm getting the same sort of thing, definite scent of fuel at cold start up, idle is okay until warm then it ocillates up down by about 100-150rpm's. Does it frequently but not all the time...

Could be leaking out of the FPR seal at the end of the fuel rail, they can leak slowly. Put your finger under the end of the rail and see. It may be running down the side and you may not be able to see it.

re-check your injectors and fuel rail again, I had this happen a few years ago, turned out to be two fuel injector seals.

Take out the bottom of the back seat and take off the cover on the passenger side. Its where the fuel pump is.

Look there and see if you find fuel.

That is what I was going to suggest. The seal around the opening often leaks. It could be the fuel lines there as well however.
